What You Need To Do:- Step 1: Obtain an official admissions letter from a transfer-in institution
- Step 2: Submit all required documents to the ISPS front desk
- Step 3: Wait for at least 10 business days
- Step 4: Contact transfer-in institution and obtain a new Form I-20
Note 1: Normal processing time at ISPS is 10 business days after receipt of complete documents Note 2: Student may remain in the U.S. between transfer process as long as the new school session begins within 5 months of program completion or transfer out date, whichever is sooner. If new school begins more than 5 months after such date, then student should request “Initial I-20” from the new school. Note 3: In the case of a student authorized to engage in post-completion optional practical training (OPT), he or she must be able to complete transfer within 60 days after the OPT authorization ends. Transfer student must report to transfer-in institution by the program start date listed on a new Form I-20 Note 4: Transfer cannot be canceled after the transfer release date Note 5: Students who have completed OPT, the 60-day transfer out period begins on the end date of the EAD card. The 5-month rule also applies.
