Immigration : F1 : Summer Enrollment

Summer Enrollment

 

[All Continuing Students]
Not required unless a student completes his or her degree in summer. If a student is completing in summer, he or she is required to register for a minimum of 1 unit in his or her last summer term (pre-session, summer I or II).

[Newly Admitted Undergraduate Students Who Start in Pre-session or Summer I]
Student must register for a minimum of 1 unit in the beginning term (either pre-session or summer I) AND must register for 6 units in total during entire summer sessions.

[Newly Admitted Undergraduate Students Who Start in Summer II]
Student must register for a minimum of 3 units in Summer II.

[Newly Admitted Graduate Students Who Start in Pre-session or Summer I]
Student must register for a minimum of 1 unit in the beginning term (either pre-session or summer I) AND must register for 5 graduate level units in total during entire summer sessions.

[Newly Admitted Graduate Students Who Start in Summer II]
Student must register for a minimum of 3 graduate level units in Summer II.

Important:

Same rules apply (see above) to a Readmit and a returning student from Leave of Absence who has a newly issued “initial” or “transfer-pending” Form I-20.


Note 1: Student at all times must be making normal progress toward his or her designated degree

Note 2: Some departments may require additional units based on a student’s individual program for academic purposes

Note 3: Summer and winter classes will not count toward full-time enrollment in the spring and fall semesters

Note 4: Audit and correspondence classes will not count toward full-time enrollment

Note 5: Only one class or three credits of Web-based course will count toward full-time enrollment (Web-based class is not the same as a correspondence class)

Note 6: A grade of A, B, C, D, E, F, I (incomplete) will count toward full-time enrollment. However, a grade of W (withdraw) does not count
