If a J-1 student has changed his or her degree level, he or she must report it to ISPS within 10 days of the change and obtain a new Form I-20 showing a new degree level. J-1 students may only matriculate to higher degree level. For instance, if you have been admitted to Doctorate program, you may not matriculate to Masters level. Should this occur, please see an advisor at ISPS to discuss options. Change of MajorImportant: J-1 students may not change their major. At this time, US Department of State does not allow this provision and students who plan to change their major will be required to leave the US and re-enter with a new DS2019 with the new major showing on the DS2019. Please see an advisor at ISPS before proceeding with a change of major in any department to discuss options and timing of this occurring. |
