Change of Major

If an F-1 student changed his or her degree major, he or she must report it to ISPS within 10 days of change and obtain a new Form I-20 showing a new major.

Required Documents (all must be valid and original copy) at ISPS:

  • Document Request Form
  • Form I-20
  • A copy of official Admissions letter (For graduate students only, and this letter will be directly forwarded to ISPS from the Graduate Admissions Office)

What You Need To Do:

  • Step 1: Submit all required documents to the ISPS front desk
  • Step 2: Wait for email from ISPS (if you don’t hear from ISPS, call at 621-4627 to check your application status). Processing time may vary depending on the date ISPS receives your official admissions letter from the Graduate Admissions Office.
  • Step 3: Pick up your new I-20 at the ISPS front desk

Note 1: Normal processing time at ISPS is 10 business days after receipt of complete documents (including a copy of official admissions letter)

Note 2: ISPS cannot issue the new I-20 until just prior to the term in which the new major becomes effective
